Director of Behavioral Engagement and Director of Yoga
Sarah Hummel is the Director of Behavioral Engagement at Myofitness. She received her M.Ed. from the University of Pittsburgh where she focused on Applied Behavioral Analysis. Her crucial role is to assess the needs of each population and create programming in order to promote behavior change and social engagement. Sarah has led the effort to integrate behavioral reinforcement through Myofitness' proprietary wellness portal.
As well, Sarah serves as Myofitness' yoga director. Sarah began practicing yoga in 2004 to look for a way to relax, deal with stress, and build mental and physical strength. Sarah practiced several different styles of yoga over the course of six years.
In 2010 Sarah found herself in a power vinyassa yoga studio and that is when she had her “ah ha!” moment. From that moment Sarah began her dedication to yoga. Yoga has changed her life for the better and has helped Sarah find inner strength and peace as well as increasing strength and flexibility. Sarah became a certified yoga instructor in 2010 through Karen Conley, specializing in power vinyassa flow. She has continued her training with Baron Baptiste, completing over 300 hour of instructor training.
She has also attended other trainings to increase her knowledge and practice including training with Greghor Singleton, Clair McDonald and Bryan Kest. Sarah became an instructor to share the practice of yoga with others.
Rachel was born and raised here in the Pittsburgh area where she began dancing at a young age. After dancing all through her childhood and teen years and even returning to dance as an adult, her passion for the art form led to a quest for a fitness regimen that would incorporate the fun and freedom of dancing with an intense full-body workout. After one Zumba class, she was hooked!
She has been attending and teaching Zumba classes ever since. Since becoming licensed in Zumba, Rachel has also trained in several other dance-based fitness programs, as well as Pilates Mat and Reformer and SilverSneakers Muscular Strength & Range of Motion (MSROM). Rachel believes in bringing dance and fitness to everyone. All you have to do is “Join the Party”!!
